Tom speaks to the heart of business growth from the viewpoint of strategic marketing. His knowledge of business-to-business and consumer marketing and advertising spans over 30 years and many industries, including automotive, technology, real estate, property management, and industrial products and services.
His passion for connecting marketing and cars and trucks was sparked when he purchased a Porsche 912 and converted it into a street/track car. Shortly after, he started participating in SCCA amateur racing, later becoming a professional racer in IMSA with a 3.0-liter slide valve Porsche RSR. He later opened a Porsche repair and race prep shop and learned to build engines and transmissions and sort out performance chassis. Marx Advertising was born in 1984 and evolved to The Marx Group (now MBE Group) in 1992.
In addition to his role at MBE Group, he also is partner at Hart Marx Advisors, an M&A advisory firm serving the aftermarket. He is an active member in important industry trade associations, including Auto Care Association and Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association.
He loves to play as hard as he works. Tom is an avid skier, hiker, biker and hosts a Supper Club where he gets to wear the chef’s hat. Friend to the industry and to clients old and new, Tom’s favorite place to be is wherever he can help others succeed.
